I have photographed weddings in India, Poland, and the United States. For the last few years, Ærø has been my home — and my focus. I still vividly remember stepping off the ferry for the first time, a decade ago, when my wife and I came here to elope: the light, the colour of the sea, the silence. Time slows down the moment you arrive.

Most of the couples I photograph come to Ærø from somewhere else entirely. Many are also choosing something different — a day that belongs to them, not to a timeline or a guest list, or someone else's idea of what a wedding should look like. There's something about this island that makes that feel natural. You take in the sights. You explore them together. It becomes something intentional, present, slow. A quiet celebration that doesn't shout 'epic' but whispers. This is a selection of those days.
